Fraud
A Windfall man reported at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday that he has been a victim of fraud.
Steve Craig Alfont, 128 W. 500 South, told Portland Police Department someone had used his credit card in several cities, including Greenwood, Portland and Kokomo.
The amount taken from the card is unknown.
Deer collision
A Fort Recovery truck driver’s vehicle hit a deer at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday on county road 600 South in Madison Township.
Donald G. Kahlig, 58, 611 Union City Road, Fort Recovery, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was driving east on county road 600 South near county road 850 East, when a deer entered the roadway from a wooded area.
Kahlig said he could not avoid hitting the deer with the 1993 Freightliner he was driving. The Freightliner is registered to Dozing and Excavating Inc., the same address as driver.
Damage is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Backing crash
A Bryant woman backed her SUV into another driver’s vehicle Wednesday between Garfield Avenue and High Street.
Kristi L. Stahley, 34, Bryant, told a Portland Police officer she was backing the 2005 Dodge Durango out of a driveway and did not see a 2010 Jeep Compass that was parked on the street.
The Durango Stahley was driving is registered to John A. Witt, 1233 W. Indiana 18, Bryant.
The Compass is registered to Kelsey J. Starr, 404 W. High St., Portland.
Damage in the 9:46 p.m. accident is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Off road crash
A Dunkirk man’s truck went off the road at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday on Indiana 1 in Richland Township.
Michael J. Shannon, 68, 120 E. Washington, Dunkirk, said he was traveling south on Indiana 1 near county road 800 South when his right front tire blew out. He told Jay County Sheriff’s Office the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban he was driving swerved to the right and partially went off the road, hitting a mailbox.
The truck is registered to Management LLC, MJS, P.O. Box 25, Redkey.
Damage is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.

A Berne man’s van struck a deer at 7:05 p.m. Saturday on Indiana 218 West near Adams County road 300 West.
Mark A. Smith, 49, was traveling east on Indiana 218 West when a deer ran into the roadway. He said he could not avoid striking the animal with his van.
Damage in the crash is estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.

Feel the Warmth of Christmas will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 30 in downtown Dunkirk. Pictures will be taken with Santa Claus at Pizza King, free food will be available at the V.F.W. hall and area businesses will be open.
