Dealing meth
Kenneth L. Ausland, 38, Portland, pleaded guilty in Jay Circuit Court to dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor. For dealing, he was sentenced to four years in the Indiana Department of Correction, given credit for time served between his arrest Aug. 4 and Nov. 16, assessed court costs of $183 and ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200. For operating a vehicle while intoxicated, he was sentenced to 60 days in the Department of Correction, to be served concurrently with the other sentence and given credit for time served since his arrest. His license was suspended for 90 days. As part of a plea agreement, charges of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor were dismissed. A notice of intent to seek habitual offender status was also dismissed.
Theft
Tabitha G. Harvey, 33, Dunkirk, pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to theft, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail with all but 40 days suspended, given 40 days credit for 20 days served, assessed court costs of $183, ordered to make restitution (amount to be determined) to Kristy Newsome and placed on formal probation for 11 months.
Narcotic possession
Micah S. Boyer, 22, Portland, pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail with all but 30 days suspended, given two days credit for one day served, assessed court costs of $183, ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200 and a substance abuse fee of $400 and placed on formal probation for 11 months.
