Classes to be at Arts Place in Portland
Taking Note
The Portland Center of Arts Place has several classes to offier this fall.
A Glow in the Dark Art workshop for kids will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Sophia Benedict will teach the class and the cost is $5.
Other classes will begin the week of Oct. 12 and continue for six weeks.
Oil painting, with teaching artist Steve McClung, will begin from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 13. McClung will teach how to create realistic landscapes. The cost is $95.
Paper making in 3-D will also be held from 6 to 8 p.m. each Tuesday beginning Oct. 13. Leslie Newton will teach the class and the cost is $75.
Mary Boetgger will teach a pottery class from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning Oct. 15. The cost is $95.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2015 Jay County Community Awards. Finalists will be announced at the annual meeting in January.
The categories are: Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Dunkirk Community Commitment Award, Industry of the Year, Innovator Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Not-For-Profit Organization of the Year and Young Professional of the Year.
