Tribe spikers fall to Tigers

VERSAILLES, Ohio — Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team lost in three sets Thursday to the Versailles Tigers.
The 26-24, 25-19, 25-20 loss drops the Indians to 8-11 and 0-7 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.
Kendra Siefring had team highs in both kills (nine) and aces (five). Kirsten Jutte tallied 14 assists to go with her six kills and team-high 10 digs.
Morgan Lennartz and Cassidy Martin had five and four kills respectively. Lennartz added four blocks, with Siefring, Jutte and Martin adding three apiece.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team held off the Tigers in a 26-24, 25-20 victory.
Hannah Knapke totaled a dozen kills to go with her 13 digs to lead the Indians. Kiah Wendel and Grace Thien had five kills apiece, and Brooke Gaerke added two.
Audra Metzger tallied 10 assists, Jill Roessner totaled nine and Thien added 10 digs.
Chiefs go 1-2
MUNCIE — All three East Jay Middle School volleyball teams traveled to Muncie on Thursday to take on the Southside Panthers.
The Chiefs returned to Portland with one victory.
East Jay’s eighth graders dropped the first set 25-24, but won the final two 25-14, 15-11. The Chief seventh graders fell 25-16, 25-23, and the sixth grade Chiefs lost 25-15, 25-11.
Logan Poore and Sara Hemmelgarn had four kills apiece for the eighth graders. Elyse Bost chipped in with two. Britney Mullins had a team-high 12 points, and tallied five aces to share the team lead with Emma James. Bost also totaled six assists.
Natalie Miles had three kills in the losing effort for the seventh grade Chiefs. Alana Kunkler added two, with Abby Huey, Zoey Elzey and Pacie Denney each finishing with one. Kunkler led the defense with three digs, and Miles added a pair of digs to go with her two blocks. Denney tallied three assists.
For the Chief sixth graders, Kylie Klopfenstein, Ralyn Chaffins and Madison Dirksen notched the only kills.
Dirksen also had three aces on her way to four service points, with Kyanne Anderson and Lilly Hedges adding two points apiece.
Eagles fall to Jets
MONROE — After dropping the first set to Adams Central on Thursday, 25-14, the West Jay eighth grade volleyball team rallied to win the second 25-20 to force a third.
The Eagles lost the game and the match Thursday by one point, 15-14.
Allison Jobe had three aces and a dozen service points to pace the Eagle offense. Hallie Fields had five points and four kills, and Trinity Current totaled four points and three aces. Kymia Hankins contributed three points.
Hallie Fields and Calli Stigleman both had four kills, and Jobe totaled nine assists.
Seventh grade results were not provided.

FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery’s seventh grade volleyball team picked up its 12th win of the season Thursday in a 25-8, 25-17 victory against the Coldwater Cavaliers.
The Tribe eighth graders won the first set 25-20, but dropped the final two 25-15, 25-21 for the loss.
Elena Evers and Paige Fortkamp both had two kills for the Tribe seventh graders. Ava Bubp had a team-high 12 points and two assists, with Evers and Fortkamp adding four points apiece. Bubp also had a team-high five aces. Kierra Wendel tallied five aces on her way to 10 points.
Paige Jutte and Brooke Kahlig recorded six and five kills respectively for the eighth grade Indians. Olivia Patch added four kills and Val Muhlenkamp had four. Chloe Showalter led the team with 10 assists, and Rachel Acheson totaled nine assists.
