Fort volleyball team is seeded eighth in tourney
Indians to open on the road at Paulding on Oct. 1
When the OHSAA volleyball tournament brackets were released Sunday, Fort Recovery High School earned the eighth seed in the Division III Kalida District.
The Indians (8-11) will open the tournament at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 on the road at fifth-seeded Paulding Panthers (15-5) in the sectional semifinal. The winner will advance to play either No. 6 seed Parkway (10-9) or No. 7 seed Columbus Grove (10-9) in the sectional championship. The title game will be hosted at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24 by the team with the highest seed.
Mt. Blanchard Riverdale (8-12), the 11 seed, hosts Bluffton (7-10) in the other sectional semifinal on the top half of the bracket, with the winner advancing to face Division III No. 1 St. Henry (20-0).
The winner of each sectional will meet in the district semifinal at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 28 in Kalida.
In the bottom half of the bracket, No. 2 seed Coldwater (19-1), which is ranked third in Division III, will host Van Buren (5-15) at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21. The winner plays 13 seed Delphos Jefferson (3-11) in the sectional championship at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24. The team with the better seed will host.
Third-seeded Defiance Tinora (14-2) hosts Hamler Patrick Henry (9-7) at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 in the other sectional semifinal, with the winner meeting either Findlay Liberty-Benton (12-5) or Harrod Allen East (6-11) in the championship match at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24.
The sectional winners will advance to the second district semifinal at 8 p.m. Oct. 28 in Kalida, and the district championship is slated for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31.
