Jay, SA open sectional on the road

INDIANAPOLIS —The Patriots and Starfires will both hit the road to begin their postseason journey.
In the IHSAA football tournament draw held Sunday, Jay County High School was given an opening-round matchup in Class 4A Sectional 22 with Mount Vernon (Fortville).
South Adams will meet the Churubusco Eagles.
Jay County (4-4) travels to take on the Marauders (4-4) at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 in Fortville. The winner will play either Pendleton Heights (3-5) or Connersville (1-7), who also meet in the opening round.
The bottom half of the bracket features the Delta Eagles (6-2) on the road at Greenfield-Central (3-5), with the Richmond Red Devils (5-3) on the road at New Castle (1-7).
The Starfires (1-7), who are in Class 2A for the first time, will travel to take on the Eagles (5-3) on Oct. 23, with the winner set to play either Prairie Heights (0-8) or Whitko (4-4).
The bottom half of the bracket features Allen County Athletic Conference foe Bluffton (2-6) at Eastside (5-3). Third-ranked Woodlan (8-0) meets Central Noble (5-3) in Albion.
Jay County’s only sectional title came in 2007, a 31-24 victory against Muncie Southside.
South Adams has won back-to-back Class A sectional championships, including a regional title in 2014.
