Turning crash
A Fort Recovery woman and an Eaton man were involved in an accident at 8:45 a.m. Monday in Bearcreek Township.
Kelly A. Muhlenkamp, 25, 24 Ohio 219, was leaving a driveway at 167 W. 400 North and told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she did not see another vehicle traveling west on county road 400 North. The 2004 Pontiac Bonneville she was driving struck the left rear tire of a propane truck driven by Charles L. Vance, 60, 17005 N. Willman Road, Eaton.
Vance told police he was unable to avoid the collision.
The Bonneville is registered to Adam J. Muhlenkamp, same address as driver, and the propane truck, a 2015 Freightliner, is registered to Ferrell Gas LP.
Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Three-vehicle crash
Three drivers were involved in a crash that occurred at a stop light at 11:28 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 27 near Votaw Street.
Mable J. Caylor, 89, 495 Grisel Road, Pennville, told Portland police she was waiting at the stop light at Votaw Street behind another vehicle when she said she accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. Her 2007 Chevrolet Impala struck the rear of a 2002 Dodge Ram that was stopped in front of her.
The impact caused the Ram, driven by James D. Baughman, 44, 520 E. Water St., Portland, to strike the rear of a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer that was also stopped at the light.
Damage to the Impala, Ram and Blazer, driven by Geoffrey E. Jones, 21, 408 N. Portland St., Ridgeville, was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
Parking lot collision
A Portland man backed his car into another vehicle at 5:14 p.m. Friday in a parking lot at Burger King, 1610 Meridian St., Portland.
Austin T. Fairchild, 18, 429 E. Walnut St., told Portland police he was backing out of a parking spot and did not see a car behind him.
Mariel V. Snell, 27, 575 Deborah Lane, Apartment 214, Berne, told police she honked her horn but Fairchild struck the left rear side of her car, a 2008 Nissan Murono.
Fairchild was driving a 2007 Chevrolet MLT registered to John Fairchild of the same address.
Damage is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
