Fort Recovery drops season finale

FORT RECOVERY — The Indians made school history on Thursday.
It’s a feat they’d soon like to forget.
Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team dropped its season finale to New Knoxville, 25-17, 25-13, 22-25, 25-20.
With the loss, the Tribe (9-13 0-9 Midwest Athletic Conference) finished winless in the MAC for the first time in school history.
Senior Kendra Siefring led the Indians with 16 kills and six blocks on senior night. Classmate Morgan Lennartz had five blocks and four kills, and fellow senior Kirsten Jutte had team highs in both digs (20) and assists (18). Jutte also had four kills.
Madi Rammel and Madison Grover tallied 12 and 11 digs respectively. Rammel also added eight assists.
The Tribe’s junior varsity squad finished its season 15-4 with a three-set loss to the Rangers, 25-19, 14-25, 25-16.
Hannah Knapke and Grace Thien recorded nine and six kills respectively to lead FRHS. Thien also had a team-high three blocks.

Audra Metzger and Jill Roessner had 10 assists each, and Kiah Wendel had a team-high 15 digs. Knapke also chipped in with 13 digs.
Fort Recovery opens the sectional tournament at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Paulding.

Tribe 7th wins
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery Middle School’s seventh grade football team capped off its perfect season with an 18-8 victory Tuesday against the Marion Local Flyers.
The eighth graders lost, 26-8.
Clay Schmitz had two touchdowns for the seventh graders, who were 8-0 on the year. Gavin Thobe had a 2-point conversion for the Tribe. The Indians’ defense also forced a safety.
Riley Dilworth scored the lone touchdown for the eighth grade Indians. Shawn Post added the 2-point conversion. The FRMS team finished the season 4-3-1.
