Ag grant apps are being accepted
The Portland Foundation is accepting applications for its Friends of Jay County Agriculture 2015 grant cycle.
The grants are for tax-exempt organizations operating or proposing to operate programs for the benefit of agriculture in Jay County.
Applications are available online at www.portlandfoundation.org and are due Nov. 20 by 5 p.m.

Pumpkin fun
Teens can decorate pumpkins from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Jay County Public Library and everyone is welcome to bring their own pumpkin and decorate from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday.
Also make DIY crafts for Halloween between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and adults can make book pumpkins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Family event
A free family event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct 30, at the Blackford County Arts Center, 107 W. Washington St. in Hartford City.
Visitors may wear costumes if desired and there will be a make and take-it activity for the kids.
A needle felting class will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 4.
The cost is $35, without tools, or $30 for those who have tools.
A basket making class will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 9. The cost is $45.

The Fort Recovery Friends of the Library will host a used book sale at the Fort Recovery Public Library beginning Monday and continuing through Oct. 31.
Also the Friends of the Library will meet at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the library.
Anyone wishing to join the group is welcome to attend.
