Tribe’s Siefring earns all-district
Local roundup
Even if the Indians’ tournament run ends Wednesday, Kendra Siefring will still have one more match.
Siefring, a FRHS senior, on Monday was named to the OHSAA Northwest District first team. She will play in the Northwest District Athletic Board All-Star game at 7 p.m. Nov. 18 at Bluffton University.
Siefring has been a crucial part of the Indians’ run to Saturday’s sectional championship, the first for the program since 2009. She had 18 kills Oct. 21 in a four-set win against the Paulding Panthers in the sectional semifinal, and followed it up with a dozen kills on Saturday in a sweep of the Parkway Panthers.
The 6-foot, 1-inch, middle hitter, who earlier this year committed to play for Ohio Dominican University, leads the Indians (11-13) with 279 kills, an average of 11.6 per match, and also has a team-high 75 blocks.
She is second on the squad in both digs (176) and aces (28).
Siefring and the Tribe meet Division III No. 1 St. Henry in the Kalida District semifinal at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday in Kalida.
Tribe falls in finale
FORT RECOVERY — Clayton Pearson threw for two touchdowns Monday for the Fort Recovery High School junior varsity football team in a 24-16 season-ending loss to the Versailles Tigers.
Pearson connected with Davis Will for a 20-yard score, and later added a 17-yard touchdown toss to Trevor Vaughn.
Hunter Vogel and Vaughn also caught 2-point conversion passes from Pearson.
The Indians end their season with a 5-3-1 record.
