Painting class to be held at Arts Place
Taking Note
A Glass and Palette class “Paint Like Van Gogh” will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Arts Place. 131 E. Walnut St. in Portland.
Avon Waters of Kokomo will lead students through recreating one of Van Gogh’s paintings. The cost is $30 and includes all painting materials and a glass of wine. Additional glasses of wine will be available for purchase.

Library events
Friends of the Library will host two Cookies & Canvases fundraisers on Sept. 26 at Jay County Public Library with Tisha Gierhart, of Tribal Paint Canvas & Laugh, as the instructor.
The first class will begin at 1 p.m. and participants will paint Butter Fly and the second class will be at 4 p.m. and will paint The Daisies.
The cost for each class is $20. Registration forms are available at the library and the deadline to register is 8 p.m. on Sept. 23.
Laughter Yoga will be held from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Thursday at JCPL.
Laughter Yoga is a unique concept where anyone can laugh as a form of exercise in a group, which turns into real and contagious laughter along with yoga breathing techniques. Cindy Cash is the instructor.
The free sessions will continue the first and third Thursday of each month through November.
SNA Live!, a program for special needs adults and their caregivers, will meet at 10 a.m. Sept. 10 for Music and Movement and at 10 a.m. Sept. 24 for arts and crafts.
DIY Crafts will have Batman Day. Drop in between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, to make crafts. Supplies and directions will be provided.
Hope exhibit
Blackford County Arts Center, 107 W. Washington St. in Hartford City, will host the exhibit “Hope to Tell” beginning Monday.
The exhibit is works of artists that advocate the strength, victories and loss of cancer.
An opening reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 13.
The center is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
