South Adams wins ACAC

WARREN — The Starfires are conference champions.
South Adams’ girls golf team defeated Southern Wells on Thursday, 181-213 at Dogwood Glen Golf Course.
The win gave the Starfires (8-0) a perfect 3-0 slate in the Allen County Athletic Conference to earn the regular-season title.
The ACAC tournament is 9 a.m. Saturday at Timber Ridge Golf Course in Bluffton.
Sydney Willis shot a 2-over par 38 to win match medalist. The senior has not lost a match all season. Willis had trouble with the first three par-4s, bogeying all of them to sit 3-over after five.
She made par on three of the final four holes, making birdie on the par-5 seventh, for the win.
Jaci Gorrell was second for the Starfires with a 47. Both Kaiti Gorrell and Amy Schwartz had a 48 to complete the team total.
Becah Schwartz also competed, and she had a 54.
Rachel Harvey led Southern Wells with a 49.

Bruns leads in loss
CELINA, Ohio — Chase Bruns shot a 41 Thursday in the Fort Recovery boys golf team’s loss to the St. Henry Redskins.
The Indians (7-6, 4-3 Midwest Athletic Conference) had a team total of 190 at Mercer County Elks. The Redskins (12-3, 5-1 MAC) had 175.
Bruns made par five times, but a double bogey on the par-4 first hole led to a five-over 41. Jackson Hobbs finished with a 47 as the only other Tribe player to shoot below 50.
Micaiah Cox had the only birdie for the Indians, and he finished with a 50. Nick Litmer and Austin Faller tied with a 52 to complete the Tribe’s team total.
Colt Greishop also competed and he had a 56.
Jack Romer of St. Henry was the match medalist.

Redskins beat Tribe
CELINA, Ohio — St. Henry had all six players shoot in the 40s.
Fort Recovery’s lowest score was a 50.
The St. Henry girls golf team defeated Fort Recovery on Thursday, 186-213, at Mercer County Elks.
Trisha Thien led the Indians (6-3, 2-2 MAC) with a 50. Tori Vaughn was second on the team with a 52, and Elli Keller shot a 54 for the Tribe’s third-lowest score.
Emily Bruns finished with a 57 to complete Fort Recovery’s team total.

SA tops Norwell
OSSIAN — South Adams’ volleyball team moved to 8-2 on the season with a sweep of the host Norwell Knights on Thursday.
The Stars won 25-23, 25-21, 25-19.
Morgan Alberson paced the Starfires with team highs in both kills (10) and digs (16). Julia Grabau tallied 14 digs to go with her 32 assists, and Emma Rosswurm had a dozen digs as well.
Madelyn Wurster recorded nine kills and three digs, and Kylie Grabau had three blocks.
 The Starfire junior varsity squad lost to the Knights, 25-18, 23-25, 15-11.
Jade Farlow led the way with seven kills.  

Girls soccer falls
MUNCIE — Maddie Morgan and Lexi Dellinger both had two goals but it wasn’t enough as the South Adams girls soccer team lost Thursday 5-4 to the Muncie Central Bearcats.
Dellinger scored her first goal on an indirect kick from Riley Liechty late in the first half, and Morgan tallied her first score on a penalty kick four minutes into the second half.
Dellinger notched her second tally with 7:18 remaining in the game, and Morgan found the back of the net in the final two minutes.
Virginia Lagos made five saves in goal during the first half before giving way to Anna Nussbaum in the second. Nussbaum had four saves.

Tribe shut out Tigers
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery seventh and eighth grade football teams both shut out the Versailles Tigers on Thursday.
The seventh graders won 28-0, and the eighth graders were victorious 14-0.
Derek Jutte had three total touchdowns for the seventh graders. He had two rushing touchdowns, reaching the end zone from seven and 43 yards away. He also returned a punt 39 yards for a score.
Owen Moorman also had a seven-yard touchdown run.
Garrett Faller threw two TD passes for the Tribe eighth graders. He found Jason Siefring for one score, and connected with Riley Post for the other.
