Tribe places second
Indians fall in title game
ST. MARYS, Ohio — Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team finished as the runner-up Saturday in the St. Marys Invitational at Memorial High School.
The Indians (4-4) defeated the Spencerville Bearcats 25-10, 25-12 and beat the Old Fort Stockaders 25-18, 25-17.
Fort Recovery’s only loss in the tournament was to the host Memorial Roughriders, 25-17, 16-25, 27-25.
Kendra Siefring had 29 kills to lead the Indians. She also had 22 digs, six aces and three blocks. Carley Stone had 22 digs to go with her seven blocks, five digs and three aces.
Cassidy Martin tallied nine kills, and Devin Post had eight. Madison Grover recorded 15 digs.
Kirsten Jutte totaled 25 assists, eight kills, four aces and two blocks. Faith Kahlig chipped in with 30 assists and 17 digs, and Kiah Wendel added nine digs and four kills. Alexis Bubp notched seven digs.
After being swept by Jay County on Sept. 1, the Indians dropped their first Midwest Athletic Conference match to the Delphos St. John’s Blue Jays in five sets.
Fort Recovery won the first two sets 25-15, 27-25. The Tribe could not sustain its control of the match, dropping the final three sets 25-23, 25-16, 15-9.
Siefring and Stone had 18 and 10 kills respectively for the Indians.?
Stone led the way defensively with 15 digs, and Grover had 11.
