Fort volleyball winless in MAC

MARIA STEIN, Ohio — The Fort Recovery High School volleyball team wasn’t able to score more than 21 points in a set Thursday night.
It resulted in the second consecutive Midwest Athletic Conference loss for the Indians, who fell to the Marion Local Flyers 25-21, 25-21, 25-21.
Senior Kendra Siefring posted team highs in kills (12), digs (13) and blocks (six). Carley Stone tallied four kills to go with her two blocks, and Kiah Wendel also had two kills.
Kirsten Jutte had 20 assists and six digs for the Tribe (4-5, 0-2 MAC), and Faith Kahlig recorded 10 assists and a half dozen digs.
The Indians’ junior varsity team also lost, 25-20, 22-25, 26-24.
Hannah Knapke led the team with 11 kills and 22 digs. Grace Thien tallied eight kills, and Madi Rammel totaled 20 assists.
Tribe tops Cards
MINSTER, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s girls golf team moved to 2-3 in the MAC with a 216-223 victory Thursday over the New Bremen Cardinals at Arrowhead Golf Club.
Elli Keller led the Indians with a 52 from the No. 4 spot, and Cori Stone was second with a 54. Tori Vaughn and Trisha Thien tied with a 55 to complete the Tribe’s team score.
Emily Bruns and Sophie Timmerman also competed, and they finished with scores of 56 and 65 respectively.
New Bremen’s Amy Schmitmeyer earned match medalist honors with a 51.
Stars top Tigers
BERNE — The South Adams volleyball team won its 10th match of the season Thursday, defeating the Bluffton Tigers 25-21, 16-25, 25-21, 25-19.
Madi Wurster led the Starfires (10-2, 2-0 Allen County Athletic Conference) with 14 kills to go with her eight aces. Cindy In’t Groen tallied 11 kills, four digs and two aces.
Morgan Alberson, Kylie Grabau and Addie Wanner all had seven kills, with Alberson totaling 10 digs and Wanner recording three blocks. Kylea Pierce notched 13 digs, and Julie Grabau tallied 12 digs and 40 assists.
The Starfires’ junior varsity team also won, 25-12, 25-21.
Jade Farlow led the way with a dozen kills. Shania Neal had eight digs to lead the defense, and Bella Bailey totaled 15 assists.
SA still perfect
GENEVA — South Adams’ girls golf team remained perfect Thursday, defeating both the Blackford Bruins and Winchester Golden Falcons at Golf Club of the Limberlost.
The Starfires (10-0) won with a 183. Winchester scored 228, and Blackford did not qualify for a team score.
Sydney Willis had a birdie, a bogey and seven pars on her way to an even-par 36 to earn match medalist honors.
Jaci Gorrell, Amy Schwartz and Kaiti Gorrell all had a 49 to complete the Starfires’ team score. Jaci Gorrell made par three times, and Kaiti had a birdie on the par-5 second hole.
Becah Schwartz (52) and Allyson Schwartz (55) also competed for South Adams.
Sierrah Love led Winchester with a 50, and Taylor Mink had a 66 to lead the Bruins.

ANNA, Ohio — Fort Recovery Middle School’s seventh grade football team defeated the Anna Rockets 36-24 on Thursday.
The Tribe eighth graders lost, 30-0.
Clay Schmitz and Derek Jutte each had two touchdowns to lead the FRMS seventh graders. Schmitz also tallied three 2-point conversions, and Owen Moorman added another.
On defense, Regan Martin had two interceptions.
