Jay County Patriots

Last week vs. Adams Central: Jay County had a difficult time stopping the three-headed rushing attack of Adams Central to the tune of a 43-7 loss. The Patriots’ only touchdown came midway through the fourth quarter when the varsity players had already exited the game. JCHS?senior Levi Hummel had a team-high 64 rushing yards.
Season leaders: Passing — Holton Hill – 25-of-60 passing for 422 yards, five touchdowns and eight interceptions. Rushing — Cole Stigleman – 42 carries for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Receiving — Aaron Neal – six receptions for 132 yards and one touchdown. Defense — Ethan Theurer – 28 tackles, two tackles for loss and one fumble recovery.

Bluffton Tigers
Bluffton, 2-2 (1-1 ACAC)
Coach: Randy Hudgins, second year
Conference: Allen County
Last week at Woodlan: Woodlan, which is now ranked fifth in Class 3A, rushed for 433 yards and passed for another 70 in a 57-6 conference thumping of the Tigers.
Season leaders (through three games): Passing — Tim Davis – 22-of-35 for 254 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Rushing — D’Wayne Eskridge – 49 carries for 578 yards and 11 touchdowns. Receiving — Trae Jojola – six catches for 93 yards. Defense — Eskridge – 20 tackles, three fumble recoveries and one interception.
Last season: Jay County freshman Cole Stigleman scored with 54 seconds remaining in the game and forced Bluffton to turn the ball over on downs in the waning seconds to hang on to a 54-50 victory in Bluffton. It was the first ACAC victory for the Patriots. It was the second-highest total points scored in JCHS?history. Stigleman had two total touchdowns and rushed for 129 yards in the absence of junior Drew Huffman, who was injured in the first quarter. Bluffton’s Eskridge had 143 rushing yards in a game that had 838 yards of total offense.
Game notes: This is the fourth meeting between the two schools, and Jay County has not lost to the Bluffton .... Tiger standout Eskridge has committed to play football at Western Michigan ... The Patriots will be without senior Drew Huffman, who will miss his final homecoming game with an ankle injury.
