Abnet couple to share story
Taking Note
John and LaNae Abnet, Berne, will share the story of their kayak trip this summer from near Fort Recovery to the Gulf of Mexico.
The presentation will take place at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Arthur & Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion, 1201 Emmental Drive in Berne.
Library events
Story times at Jay County Public Library in October will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27, and 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29.
Mother Goose & Me will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, 9, 16 and 30.
Laughter Yoga will meet from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Thursday and again on Oct. 15. Free sessions will also be held the first and third Thursday in November. Wear comfortable shoes.
Paul Vesperry will teach the art of relaxation at 4 p.m. on Monday at the library. He will teach techniques to reduce stress.
An adult and teen coloring party will follow from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Coloring therapy can reduce stress and improve focus. Children are welcome.

West Jay Middle School named its Students of the Month for September.
In sixth grade was Marissa Overla, the granddaughter of Treva Dotson; in seventh grade was Sophia Fugiett, the daughter of Cathy and Adam Fugiett; in eighth grade was Erica Hathaway, the daughter of Susan and Les Hathaway.
Fort auction
The Fort Recovery Historical Society and Project Recovery will hold its annual “One of a Kind Auction” from 5 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, in the Elementary/ Middle School Auditeria.
The theme is “It’s the Great Pumpkin Patch.”
Tickets are $10 and are available at Fort Recovery Insurance Agency, Mercer Savings Bank, First Financial Bank, Second National Bank, Kaup Pharmacy or from FRHS or PR members. Admissions includes a bid number and appetizer and dessert buffet. Items can be viewed at www.fortrecoverymuseum.com.
