Felony court news

Probation violation
Shelby J. Steed, 20, Portland, violated the terms of her probation originally imposed July 28, 2015, for a charge of possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony. She was sentenced to an additional 60 days of the one-year sentence originally imposed, given 18 days credit for nine days served and ordered to serve the remaining 42 days of her sentence in Jay County Jail beginning March 30 and received day-for-day credit.

High alcohol level
Jeremy M. Jones, 33, Union City, was found guilty of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, enhanced to a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to two years in Jay County Jail to be served consecutively with a sentence for a conviction out of Randolph Superior Court for operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent of 0.15 percent, a Level 6 felony, with all but 40 days suspended. He was given two days credit for one day served, ordered to serve the remaining 38 days of his sentence beginning May 23 and receive day-for-day credit, assessed court costs of $183.50, ordered to pay an alcohol and drug countermeasures fee of $200 and a substance abuse program fee of $400 and placed on formal probation for 22 months to be served consecutive to the probation imposed with the other Level 6 felony. As part of the plea agreement, a charge of operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent of 0.15 percent or more was dismissed. The court recommends the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles suspend his driver’s license for one year.

Dealing

Skye R. Huss, 26, Montpelier, was found guilty of dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony. He was sentenced to three years in the Indiana Department of Correction with two years suspended, ordered to serve six months in Jay County Jail, ordered to serve the remaining six months on electronically monitored home detention, given credit for 28 days served, fined $1, assessed court costs of $183, ordered to pay a drug abuse prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200 and placed on formal probation for two years.

Probation violation
Justin W. Stolz, 40, Portland, violated the terms of his probation originally imposed April 7, 2015, for the charges of operating a vehicle with alcohol concentration equivalent of 0.15 percent or more, a Class A misdemeanor. He was sentenced to an additional 90 days of the one-year sentence originally imposed to be served consecutive to the sentence imposed for the charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Level 6 felony, and resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor, given 70 days credit for 35 days served and spend the remaining 20 days of sentence on electronically monitored home detention.

Sentence modifications
Tony Hammer, Portland, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class D felony to a Class A misdemeanor.
