Felony court news
Sentenced
Two more Celina residents have been in connection with a drug deal related shooting in Fort Recovery in February.
Kody Chilcoat and Julian Kocak, both 19, were sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison after pleading guilty last month in Mercer County Common Pleas Court to robbery and obstructing justice. Both are third-degree felonies under Ohio law.
Judge Jeffrey Ingraham sentenced them to 18 months on each charge, with the terms to be served consecutively. They will receive credit for time already served in the Mercer County Jail.
Chilcoat and Kocak were among six Celina adults and two juveniles who robbed a rural Fort Recovery 17-year-old in Ambassador Park after meeting up with the purpose of buying marijuana. The 17-year-old shot Kocak and one of the juveniles when resisting the robbery. The alleged shooter was arrested in Darke County after the incident.
Indicted
Bradley D. Caster, 36, Bryant, has been indicted by a Mercer County grand jury on two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of theft, and one count of receiving stolen property. All are fifth-degree felonies.
Sentenced
Brian S. Harper, 35, Geneva, was sentenced earlier this month to 10 months in prison after pleading guilty in Mercer County Common Pleas Court to a charge of safecracking, theft, receiving stolen property and tampering with a coin machine.
Safecracking is a fourth-degree felony. Receiving stolen property and theft are fifth-degree felonies. Tampering with a coin machine is a first-degree misdemeanor.
Harper was also ordered to make $2,111 in restitution.
