Kite festival coming to Muncie
Taking Note
Hoosier Kitefliers Society, Inc., will sponsor the Ansel Toney Memorial Kite Festival at the Academy of Model Aeronautics in Muncie.
The event is in honor of Toney, who is known as the Kite Man of Indiana, and will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at AMA, 5161 E. Memorial Drive.
Visitors can see single and dual line kites flown, bring a kite to fly or make one at a workshop.
The event is free. For more information, call Dick Claycomb at (765) 348-3711.

John Jay Center for Learning and The Portland Foundation are sponsoring an event to be held at Arts Place in Portland in conjunction with an economics class at John Jay.
Econ in Motion is being taught by Dr. Cecil Bohanon from Ball State University. He has received a grant for his students to make several short films based on ideas of the French classical liberal theorist and political economist Frederic Bastiat.
The films will be shown at 6:30 p.m. on April 28 at Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St. in Portland.
LifeStream seminars
LifeStream Services will present Active Senior Seminars from 1 to 2 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month at Farmland Community Center, 100 N. Main St. The first one will be held April 28.
Presentations will be given by Julie Hale, LifeStream wellness manager, and Lana Remaly, Randolph County Options counselor, and will focus on health, technology, safety and more.
Reservations can be made by calling (765) 468-7631.
Also LifeStream Cafés are held at 11:30 a.m. each Monday at the community center. Meals are provided for those 60 years and older, and their spouses, with a suggested donation. Those under the age of 60 can enjoy a meal for a small fee. Reservations for meals should be made at least one business day in advance by calling (765) 759-1121.

Pat Dodds of Fresno, California, is visiting all 92 counties in Indiana from his home and is posting his findings on the virtual travel blog “EveryCounty.org.”
Dodds recently included Jay County as his 27th county on the blog. He featured the Jay County Courthouse, the arch bridge, Museum of the Soldier and The Glass Museum in Dunkirk.
Art exhibit
The Art of Imagination, a Collection of pieces by Disney and Chuck Jones, is on display at Blackford County Arts Center of Arts Place through Friday, April 29. The pieces are on loan from David Hodges.
The center is located at 107 W. Washington St. in Hartford City.

Kathryn Smeltzer, Portland, was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society at University of the Cumberlands, Williamsburg, Kentucky.
