ALEXANDRIA — The Jay County High School boys tennis team dropped its season opener 5-0 on Tuesday to the Alexandria Monroe Tigers.
At No. 1 singles, JCHS junior Garrett Rodgers dropped the first set to Matthew Hensley 6-0. He made an attempt at a comeback in the second set, but fell 6-3.
Jay County junior Payton Heniser lost to Blake Morehead at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0, and No. 3 singles player Conner Benter fell 6-1, 6-1 to Sam Hensley.
The Patriots’ No. 1 doubles team of seniors Luke Weaver and Kyler Hudson dropped their match 6-0, 6-1 to Matt Etherington and Dane Hueston.
At No. 2 doubles, sophomores Xavier Ninde and Ben Muhlenkamp lost their varsity debut in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.

CELINA — The Fort Recovery High School boys golf team lost to the Fort Loramie Redskins 171-185 on Tuesday at Mercer County Elks Golf Club.
It was the second defeat in as many days for the Indians, who fall to 6-3 on the season.
Austin Pohl led Fort Recovery with a 45, including making par twice. Austin Faller and Harrison Kaup each shot a 46, as Faller made the only birdie for the Indians on the par-3 second hole.
Micaiah Cox completed the Indians’ team score with a 47.
Also competing for Fort Recovery were Grant Knapke and Calvin Rammel, and they shot identical scores of 53.
