Rear-end crash
A Portland man drove a Honda Civic into the back of a Ford Taurus Friday morning in Portland.
Chandler R. Woodward, 19, 1638 S. 700 West, told Portland police he was not paying attention when the 2008 Honda Civic he was driving slammed into a 2004 Ford Taurus on Votaw Street near Industrial Drive.
Woodward said the two cars were stopped at the traffic light at the intersection when he started to drive and hit the Ford.
Gary L. Charlton, 58, 1262 S. Main St., Dunkirk, was driving the Ford. He said his vehicle was stopped at the traffic light and began to move east on Votaw Street when the light turned green. It was then struck by the Honda. Charleton said Honda went underneath his Taurus as a result of the accident.
Charleton complained that his neck was sore, but refused medical treatment.
Damage in the 8 a.m. crash is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
