Tribe girls fourth in Mercer Co.

FORT RECOVERY — Chloe Will crossed the finish line in eighth place.
Two of her teammates weren’t far behind.
Will led a trio of runners who placed in the top 15 Thursday, helping the Fort Recovery High School girls cross country team finish fourth in the Mercer County Cross Country Championships.
St. Henry swept both the boys and girls team titles. The girls squad had all five scoring runners finish in the top 10 for a total of 29. Celina was second with 67, and Coldwater placed third with 75. The Tribe totaled 84 for fourth.
On the boys side, St. Henry won with a score of 36, and Parkway was the runner-up with 50. Celina scored 67 points for third. Fort Recovery finished sixth with 130.
Will ran to a time of 22 minutes, 28 seconds, seven seconds ahead of teammate Hannah Heitkamp in 10th. Elise Gehle was 13th in 22:46, Paige Hemmert finished 26th in 24:34 and Angela Heitkamp completed Fort Recovery’s team score by crossing the finish line in 26:44 for 39th.
Travis Sutter was the top FRHS male runner, finishing seventh in 18:13. Drew Muhlenkamp finished 15th in 19:30, and Cameron Romer had a time of 21:21 for 35th. Josh Gonzalez (49th) and Andy Weitzel (55th) completed the Tribe’s team score, finishing with times of 22:16 and 22:49 respectively.
Also running for the FRHS girls were Sydney Alig (43rd – 27:44), Emily May (51st – 29:48), Heather Klenke (52nd – 30:04), Rachel Moorman (58 – 30:45), Courtney Metzger (59th – 30:45), Madi Kaiser (64th – 31:49), Audrey Guggenbiller (65th – 31:55) and Kylee Kaiser (76th – 35:13).
For the boys were Jared Timmerman (62nd – 23:18), Jayden McEldowney (65th – 23:39), John Knapke (71st – 24:31), Jason Siefring (79th – 27:28) and Daniel Cope (81st – 28:59).

Middle school
Fort Recovery’s girls cross country team had two runners in the top 15 as it placed fourth.
Coldwater was the winner with 50 points, edging Celina by three. Marion Local totaled 65 for first.
The FRMS boys did not qualify for a team score.
Anna Wendel and Hannah Metzger were eighth and 12th respectively for the girls. Wendel ran to a time of 14:27, and Metzger crossed in an even 15 minutes.
Sarah Siefring (15:59), Alyssa Heinrichs (16:02) and Kendra Metzger (16:13) were 22nd, 23rd and 24th respectively.
In the boys race, Connor Gower finished second in 13:11, one second and one place ahead of teammate Jake Diller.
Luke Keller was 11th with a time of 14:17.
Also running for the FRMS girls were Megan Abels (30th – 16:58), Britney Klenke (32nd – 17:24), Emma Fullenkamp (33rd – 17:32), Olivia Laux (35th – 17:47) and Brianne Pottkotter (47th – 22:00).
