The Jay County High School girls golf team fell to .500 on the season Thursday with a 196-216 loss to Richmond at Portland Golf Club.
The Patriots, who had defeated South Adams and Adams Central on Tuesday, dropped to 4-4 on the year.
Seniors Madison Brown and Cassie Reno led the effort for Jay County, posting matching scores of 53. Carlie Wickey, another senior, was third on the team with a 54, and their classmate Kendra Dodd shot a 56 to complete the Patriots’ team score.
Sierra Caster also competed, and she finished with a 73.
Jay County returns to action at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday as it hosts Fort Recovery and Winchester.
Tigers top Tribe
CELINA, Ohio — The Versailles Tigers defeated the Fort Recovery boys golf team Thursday, 180-190 at Mercer County Elks Golf Club.
Micaiah Cox made par four times and had a team-low 17 putts to lead the Indians, who fell to 1-3 in Midwest Athletic Conference play, with a 42. Austin Pohl was second on the team with a 48, which included making par a team-high four times.
Harrison Kaup was close behind with a 49, and Austin Faller shot a 51 to complete the Indians’ team score.
Also competing were Calvin Rammel (54) and Grant Knapke (55).
Dellinger scores four
SELMA — Lexi Dellinger scored four times and Ally Weaver tallied one goal as the South Adams girls soccer team defeated host Wapahani on Thursday, 5-1.
South Adams (1-1), which lost 8-0 on Tuesday to Bellmont, took a 4-1 lead at halftime before adding another score in the final 40 minutes.
Jenna Myers and Alyssa Bertsch registered assists.
Goalkeeper Anna Nussbaum made four saves.
Star golfers win
MARION — The South Adams girls golf team moved to 5-4 on the season Thursday, defeating the host Eastbrook Panthers 217-237 at Arbor Trace Golf Club.
Senior Amy Schwartz led South Adams with a 52, one stroke ahead of teammate Becah Schwartz. Kaiti Gorrell made par once to finish with a 54, and Selina Jones shot a 58 as the Starfires’ No. 4 golfer. Katie Stiltner also played, and she finished with a 66.
Tennis falls
BERNE — South Adams’ boys tennis team remained winless Thursday after falling 3-2 to the New Haven Bulldogs.
The Starfires drop to 0-3 on the season.
At No. 1 singles, David Muselman cruised to a victory over Justin Cummings, 6-0, 6-0. The other victory for South Adams came at No. 2 singles as Aidan Bahre knocked off Jett Rondot 6-0, 6-1.
Jack Wallace dropped the first set of his No. 3 singles match 6-0 to Jacob Garcia. He rallied in the second set but eventually fell 6-3.
At No. 1 doubles, Jamison Kistler and Zach Teeple lost 6-1, 6-3 to Angel DiFederico and Lucas Garcia. The SAHS No. 2 doubles team of Paul Stuckey and Cam Stevens fell 6-0, 6-1 to Zech Harris and Dwight Young.
