FORT WAYNE — The Starfires’ top players cruised Saturday, leading a pair of victories.
South Adams High School’s boys tennis teams got wins and No. 1 and 2 singles and No. 1 doubles in both of its matches as it topped Fort Wayne South Side 4-1 and Fort Wayne North Side 3-2 at Concordia.
The Starfires gave up just four games apiece at the No. 1 spots, with doubles team Jamison Kistler and Zach Teeple shutting out Ben High and Sam Larison of South Side. They scored a 6-1, 6-3 victory over North Side’s Chris Walker and Jesus Schaefer.
David Muselman fell one game short of a sweep of South Side’s Connor Meeks and also topped Greg Jean-Baptiste of North Side 6-3, 6-0.
Aidan Bahre was also perfect on the day, winning both of his matches at No. 2 singles. Paul Stuckey and Cam Stevens won by forfeit against South Side.

East Jay Middle School’s cross country teams opened with a couple of wins Thursday over Bellmont at Hudson Family Park.
The Chief girls swept the top five en route to a 14-46 victory while the boys won 23-32.
Mara Bader led the girls team in 14 minutes, 22 seconds, 34 seconds ahead of teammate Miranda Alig. Following in third, fourth and fifth were Lydia Keihn, Lyndee Wood and Olivia Waters.
Mitchell Winner and Xavier Myers went one-two for the boys team in 12:41 and 13:07 respectively. Flint Schmiesing was fifth, Tyler Manor placed seventh and Dustan Harris took eighth.
Wyatt Kunkler won the boys junior varsity race in 15:26 as the team topped Bellmont 21-40.
