Elijah Kahlig has yet to start a game this season for the Oilers.
He’s making the most of his opportunities off the bench.
Kahlig, a 2014 Fort Recovery High School graduate, scored a season-high 17 points Saturday, helping the University of Findlay men’s basketball team to an 86-76 victory over Cedarville.
The junior was 3-for-4 from long range in the first half, and his nine points were tied for the team lead with Taren Sullivan and Martyce Kimbrough.
Kahlig finished 6-for-8 from the field, including a 5-for-7 effort from 3-point range.
He added two rebounds, three steals and one assist for the Oilers (3-1).
The former Indian is shooting 50 percent from the field, including 47.8 percent from beyond the arc, through four games this season.
Kahlig is averaging more than 20 minutes off the bench and 10.5 points per game.

Was named NAIA defensive player of the game for the fourth-ranked University of Saint Francis football team Saturday in its 42-35 win over Morningside in the NAIA Football Championship quarterfinal.
Hemmelgarn had 1.5 sacks and five tackles for loss and a forced fumble in the win, as the fourth-ranked Cougars erased a 20-point deficit for coach Kevin Donley’s 300th career victory.
The redshirt sophomore finished with nine total tackles and also had a quarterback hurry for the Cougars (11-1), who meet third-ranked Reinhardt University in the semifinal Saturday.
Kegan Comer

Scored in double figures in each of the last three games as the NAIA No. 1 University of St. Francis men’s basketball team extended its unbeaten record to 11-0.
In addition to scoring 13 points in a Nov. 22 blowout of Spring Arbor, Comer also dished out a team-best six assists. He grabbed five rebounds and blocked one shot.
Comer followed up that effort with 10 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in Saturday’s 87-68 victory over Indiana Tech. He tallied 10 points, seven assist, five rebounds and a steal as St. Francis topped Marian 91-79 on Tuesday.
Scott Schwieterman

Was one of four Indiana Tech players to score in double figures while he took on his former classmate Saturday.
Schwieterman shot 5-of-9 from the field and scored 14 points for the Warriors (6-3) in their loss to Comer and his St. Francis squad. He also had six rebounds and a block.
The junior hauled down a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with seven points Wednesday in Indiana Tech’s 97-74 win over Marygrove, and he had eight points and five boards in a 66-62 loss Nov. 22 to Michigan-Dearborn.
Sawyer Miller
South Adams – 2015
Earned one of seven victories for the Indiana Tech wrestling team in its 33-11 victory Tuesday over Lindsey Wilson College.
Miller opened his 125-pound match for the NAIA No. 2 Warriors by defeating Kadin Scoggins by a 9-4 decision. Miller (11-2), who is ranked fifth in the nation, had a takedown in each period, and didn’t surrender a point to Scoggins until the third period.
Wade Gelhaus

Helped the NCAA Division II No. 2 Saginaw Valley State University men’s basketball team improve to 6-0 Monday with a 101-82 win over Olivet.
Gelhaus started and finished with six points, six rebounds, two steals and an assist for the Cardinals, who trail only West Liberty (West Virginia) in the national poll. He also had eight points, five boards, two rebounds and a pair of steals Nov. 22 as SVSU clobbered Grace Bible College 104-65.
Abby Wendel

Earned her first career start for the University of Rio Grande women’s basketball team Sunday in the final round of the NAIA Division II Showcase in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Wendel hauled in one rebound and had one steal in an 88-80 loss to Union. She did not attempt a shot.
The freshman was 2-for-3 from the field for four points with three rebounds and a steal on Saturday as the Red Storm (4-4) lost to Milligan in the tournament opener.
