AngelWish donations still being accepted

LifeStream Services is continuing to accept donations for its AngelWish program until Dec. 8. Donations help to brighten the holidays of isolated senior citizens and those with disabilities.
Items being accepted include peanut butter, tuna, canned vegetables, soups, bath soaps, hand lotion, shampoo, deodorant, denture cleaner, hand sanitizer, dish washing liquid and toilet paper.
Drop off locations include Jay Community Center, 115 E. Water St. and Persimmon Ridge, 200 N. Park St., both of Portland, and Miller’s Merry Manor, 11563 W. 300 South, Dunkirk.
Monetary donations are also being accepted. With each $25 donation, a senior will receive a gift bag and a special gift of their choice. Checks should be made payable to LifeStream Services and mailed to P.O. Box 308, Yorktown, IN 47396-0308.
Volunteers are needed to deliver gift bags. Anyone wishing to volunteer, may call Laura Bray, LifeStream’s Volunteer Services Administrator at (765) 759-1121 ext. 136 or (800) 589-1121, or email [email protected].

Insurance help
A representative from Meridian Health Services will speak at Jay County Public Library about obtaining health care insurance.
The presentation will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, in the Community Room.
Meridian Health Services is a not-for-profit organization that offers full body health care, accepts most insurances and also offers a sliding fee scale for those who qualify.

After the presentation, the representative will meet one-on-one to help fill out online applications for any of the Indiana State Insurance programs or the Federal Marketplace.

At Mercer Health
Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater, Ohio, is offering several programs this month.
A Diabetes Support Group will be held from noon until 2 p.m. on Dec. 12 and Foot and Toenail Clinics will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. each Wednesday. For more information or to register, call the Disease Management Clinic at (419) 586-9657.
Direct Access Testing is available at several locations, including Mercer Health Medical Group of Fort Recovery. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Monday and Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Tuesday and Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to noon each Wednesday. No appointment is necessary. Weight Management Center programs include a Medifast Transition class at 6 p.m. on Dec. 5; Free Surgical Weight Loss Seminar at 6 p.m. on Dec. 6 or online anytime; and Introduction to Medifast class at 6 p.m. on Dec. 12 or online anytime.
