Went off road

A rural Portland man’s truck slid off an icy road Monday afternoon and struck a tree in Greene Township. 

Justen B. Moser, 27, 335 S. 400 West, was westbound on Division Road nearing its intersection with county road 400 West. He was unable to navigate the turn onto county road 400 West with his 2005 Ford F150 because of icy road conditions. 

As a result, the Ford slid, exiting the roadway and striking a CenturyLink phone box, the mailbox at 4014 W. Division Road and a tree before coming to a stop. 

Damage in the 4:55 p.m. accident is estimated less than $1,000. 



Fraud

Marsh Supermarket, 218 Lincoln Ave., Portland, reported Monday that it was defrauded out of $300.

Portland Police Department received a call from Marsh Supermarket on Monday afternoon and was told by an employee that a “short change artist” visited the store over the weekend. 

Portland police said Tuesday that a black male entered the store and took $300 through a fraud scheme.
