The Patriot girls bounced back from their loss Monday.
The boys are still searching for their first win.
Jay County High School’s swim teams split with the visiting Delta Eagles on Tuesday. The girls squad won eight events in a 172-136 victory to move to 5-2 on the season, while the boys dropped to 0-6 with a 196-99 loss.
Freshman Erica Hathaway and sophomore Alex Bader were both dual winners for the JCHS girls. Hathaway was first in both the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 34.16 seconds, and the 100 butterfly in 1:10.47. Bader earned first place the 100 freestyle (56.98 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.47).

McDowell, Kunkler and Bader joined Jamie Valentine to win the 200 medley relay in 2:01.75, then teamed with Hathaway for a victory in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:51.68.
Gabe Blankenship scored 104.5 points for first place in diving as the only win for the JCHS boys. Garrett Campbell (100 backstroke) and Christopher McDowell (200 IM) were second in their respective events.
Ault leads Jay
HARTFORD CITY — Hanna Ault recorded her first career double-double on Tuesday, helping the Jay County girls basketball team to a 45-26 victory over the host Blackford Bruins.
Ault scored 13 points and hauled in 11 rebounds for Jay County, which moves to 7-5 on the year and hosts Allen County Athletic Conference foe Heritage on Thursday.
Jay County had a 16-8 advantage after the first quarter, and a strong defensive effort kept the Bruins (3-9) off the scoreboard in the second period. JCHS led 25-8 at intermission and was in front 33-20 heading into the final eight minutes.
Taylor Homan reached double figures in scoring again, tallying 11 points in support of Ault.
Jay County’s junior varsity team also won, 43-18 to move to 11-1 on the season. Sam Twigg and Hanna Dillon had 11 points each, and Hallie Fields chipped in seven points.
McDowell, Kunkler and Bader joined Jamie Valentine to win the 200 medley relay in 2:01.75, then teamed with Hathaway for a victory in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:51.68.
