FOUNTAIN CITY — In nearly every class it wrestled, the Starfires came out on top.

The South Adams High School wrestling team only dropped two matches on Tuesday in a 49-18 victory host Northeastern. 

Wyatt Miller won his match at 120 pounds by pinning Brady Oliver, with Brandon Wynn (126) and Briar Goodwin (132) defeating Gabe Morris and Spencer Day in the same manner. Josh Lahr also pinned Paul Berger in their 145-pound matchup.

At 113 pounds, Michael Rupp defeated Collin Miller by major decision, 9-1, and Taylor Cuellar won his heavyweight bout against Dakota Green 10-6.

Austin McKibben (138), Keegon Boxell (152) and Collin Shaffer (170) each won by forfeit.

The only two losses in contested matches came at 182 and 220 pounds. Jordan Heckler fell to Dave Berger at 182, and Zach Haager pinned Zach Loshe.

Northeastern also won by forfeit at 195 pounds.

Tribe win

FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Middle School seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams both picked up wins against the Ansonia Tigers on Tuesday.

The eighth grade squad won 49-24, while the seventh graders won 21-17.

Clay Schmitz poured in 21 points to lead the Tribe eighth graders. Ryne Post added nine points and Derek Jutte chipped in eight. Brian Bihn contributed five points, while Regan Martin and Riley Will had three and two points respectively.

Logan Homan tallied eight points as the leading scorer for the FRMS seventh graders. Riley Hiser was second with six points and Marcus Gaerke tallied three points. Sam DuHamel and Peyton Brunswick had two points apiece.
