East Jay seventh grade girls win

MUNCIE — East Jay’s seventh grade girls basketball team kept the Titans scoreless during the first quarter Monday on its way to a 33-9 defeat of Northside.
The EJMS eighth graders lost 35-32.
Grace Saxman scored 10 points to lead the offensive effort for the seventh grade Chiefs, who led 6-0 after the first quarter, 12-3 at half and 26-8 heading into the fourth.
Natalie Miles and Aubrie Schwieterman each scored six points to follow Saxman, and Zoey Elzey chipped in with five points. Pacie Denney tallied four points and Madison Fouch added two.
Macey Weitzel scored 10 points to lead the eighth graders. Taylor May totaled eight points and Anhely Montes tallied five. Mikele Suman and Mackynzie Fairchild had four points apiece.

Tribe loses
ST. HENRY, Ohio — Fort Recovery High School’s freshman boys basketball team lost its fifth game of the season Monday in a 63-50 defeat to the St. Henry Redskins.
Derek Siefring and Mason Will both reached double-digit scoring totals for the Indians (2-5), netting 17 and 16 points respectively.
Brandon Siegrist and Noah Lennartz each added five points, with Braydon Schoen tallying four.
Kody Shinaberry chipped in with three points in the loss.

Chiefs top Bears
PARKER CITY — East Jay Middle School’s wrestling team defeated the Monroe Central Golden Bears on Monday, 54-33.
Blayne Daniels (80 pounds), Zakk Atkins (110) and Brian Newman (120) all pinned their respective opponents. Atkins needed 36 seconds to earn his pin, while Daniels and Newman both took just 28 seconds for their pin.
Dawson Hundley (85 pounds), Jackson Lyons (125), Mason Winner (145), Derrick Allen (165), Dakota Lairson (180), Cooper Jacks (200) and Levi Peterson (235) each won by forfeit.

Eagles drop two
DUNKIRK — West Jay’s seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams dropped their final home games of the season to the Monroe Central Golden Bears on Monday.
The eighth graders lost 42-27, and the seventh graders fell 33-28.
Brinnin Wasson and Trevan Vore scored eight and seven points respectively for the eighth graders. Peyton Nichols and Dylan Bowler followed with six points apiece.
Drew Powers led the seventh graders with eight points, with Logan Brown totaling seven points and Riley Foster adding five.
Hunter Shumaker tallied four points, Lane Chapman had three and Frankie Crump finished with one point.

Chiefs, Eagles split
The sixth grade boys basketball teams at East Jay hosted county rival West Jay on Monday and they each won one game.
West Jay’s A team won 26-21, and the East Jay B squad earned a 41-10 victory.
Quinn Faulkner scored 18 points to lead the WJMS A team. Caleb Hale followed with three points while Trenton Alexander and Camdin Harrison added two points each.
Gavin Muhlenkamp’s 16 points led the East Jay A team. Ethan Dirksen and Crosby Heniser had four and one point respectively.
Tarron Bentz paced the EJMS B team with 14 points, with Jacob Hart and Mickey Waters scoring six points apiece. Keegan Hartzel tallied five points.
Caleb Hale and Kess McBride finished with four points each to lead the West Jay B squad. Cody Bivens added two points.

EJ 6th wins
Both sixth grade girls basketball teams at East Jay defeated the Winchester Golden Falcons on Monday.
The A team won 21-17, while the B team earned a 23-3 victory.
Madison Dirksen scored six points and Rachel Muhlenkamp added five to lead the A squad. Heaven Hambrock chipped in with four points.
Andrea Jutte, Maddy Wenk and Abby Elzey had two points each.
Jutte led the B squad with six points. Madison Jetmore and Hambrock tallied four points each and Lindy Mercer had three points.
Chailey Muhlenkamp, Wenk and Elzey each had two points.

WJ falls to Delta
DUNKIRK — West Jay’s sixth grade girls basketball teams dropped games to the Delta Eagles on Monday.
The WJMS A squad lost 26-18, and the B team fell 18-8.
Bella Rodgers scored eight points for the A team. Kaelyn Denney followed with five points, and Lizzy Dollar and Rylee Hambrock tallied two and one point respectively.
Brea Klarer’s four points led the B squad. Kaden Norris and Dollar both chipped in with two points.
