Patriot freshmen fall to Trojans

Local roundup

NEW CASTLE — Wyatt Geesman provided most of the offense.
An extra two points would’ve been beneficial.
Jay County High School’s freshman boys basketball team fell to the host New Castle Trojans on Tuesday, 29-28.
The Patriots (10-4) were behind 6-4 after a sluggish opening quarter, but outscored the Trojans 10-7 during the second period to take a 14-13 lead into the break.
But during the third quarter the slim lead vanished, and the Patriots fell behind in the fourth and weren’t able to get ahead again.
Geesman led all players with 16 points, including a six-point effort in the second quarter. Parker Grimes followed with eight points, while Korbin Auker and Matt Franks each had two points.
The Patriots are in action tonight in a tripleheader with the Fort Wayne South Side Archers.
