Speech winners will advance to county contest

An Optimist Oratorical Speech Contest was held recently at area schools.
Winners at General Shanks Elementary were fifth grade students Philip Hartman, the son of James and Robin Hartman, and Olivia Waters, the daughter of Dave and Cheri Waters.
Alternates were fifth grader Logan Robinette, the son of Natasha McIntire and Izaah Jenkins, and third grader Aubrey Millspaugh, the daughter of Tim and Kristin Millspaugh.
Winners at Pennville Elementary were fifth grader Madison Springer, the daughter of Nathan and Wendy Springer, and fourth grader Hunter Bouse, the son of Greg and Heidi Bouse.
Alternates were third graders Cami Paxson, the daughter of Daniel and Angela Paxson and Gabe Pinkerton, the son of Rex and Cathy Pinkerton.
The winners will represent their respective schools in the county Optimist Oratorical Speech Contest at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 11 at East Elementary.
