Arrested
A Redkey man was arrested Monday in Muncie for public intoxication and possession of a narcotic drug after he was found on top of a dumpster.
Paul Daniel Rogers, 38, was asleep on the dumpster outside Village Pantry, 101 E. Memorial Drive. Around 3:45 a.m., a Muncie police officer woke him up, asking what he was doing there. Rogers told him, “I’m closing them.”
Rogers walked unsteadily and couldn’t say how he got to Village Pantry, although a portable breath test didn’t register alcohol in his system.
He was taken to Delaware County Jail, where the officer allegedly found methamphetamine wrapped in plastic and folded inside a dollar bill in Rogers’ pants pocket.

Deer accident
A Ridgeville man had an accident involving a deer Monday afternoon.
Dakota J. Poole, 22, 404 S. Portland St., was driving north on New Mount Pleasant Road south of county road 200 South when a deer ran onto the roadway. He could not avoid hitting it with his 2008 Dodge Caliber.
Damage in the 5:45 p.m. accident was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
