Felony court news
After two pre-trial meetings, there has been no resolution in Bryce Paxson’s case.
That will change at the Pennville man’s next pre-trial on March 15.
Jay County prosecutor Wes Schemenaur said if there is no change in plea, a trial will be scheduled for Paxson, who is charged with operated while intoxicated resulting in death, a Level 5 felony.
Seth Corwin, 16, died Oct. 30 when the pickup truck Paxson was driving crashed into his home at 405 E. Lagro St., Pennville.
If convicted, Paxson faces up to six years in prison.
A breath test at the scene allegedly showed Paxson’s blood alcohol content at 0.175 percent. Three hours later, a test at Jay County Jail allegedly showed 0.141 percent.
Schemenaur said nothing points to a change of plea being likely.
