Five Jay players land on all-ACAC teams
First, they won the conference.
Now they’ve been honored.
Five members of the two-time Allen County Athletic Conference champion Jay County High School girls basketball team were named to all-ACAC teams.
Three South Adams Starfires were also rewarded for their efforts on the hardwood.
Jay County seniors Abby Wendel and Lyla Muhlenkamp, as well as freshman Shelby Caldwell were given first-team honors. Wendel, who will play for the Rio Grande RedStorm, led the Patriots (19-5, 6-0 ACAC) with 14.4 points per game. She was also second on the team with 4.4 rebounds per game.
Muhlenkamp, who put herself in the JCHS record books for number of 3-pointers in a game (12) and in a season (62), was second on the team with 9.5 points per game. Caldwell’s 8.2 PPG was third. Caldwell was the only freshman on either team.
Senior Ava Kunkler and Taylor Homan received second-team nods.
Making the all-ACAC first team from South Adams were senior Cindy In’t Groen and sophomore Lexi Dellinger. In’t Groen had a team-high 18.1 points per game, and Dellinger was second with 13.1.
Sophomore Madi Wurster (9.4 PPG) was given second-team honors.
