Fort chamber names honorees

Award winners for 2015 have been announced by the Fort Recovery Chamber of Commerce.
Police officer Brandon Wyerick will be honored as Citizen of the Year at the chamber’s annual banquet on March 13.
Kaup Pharmacy will be recognized as Fort Recovery Business of the Year.
Rod Thobe and Roger Broerman will be inducted into the Fort Recovery Hall of Fame, and the Outstanding Community Service Award will be presented to the Fort Recovery Community Club.
Wyerick has been with the Fort Recovery Police Department for nine years and is an active member of the Fort Recovery Community Club. Others nominated for Citizen of the Year were Neal Spencer, Cliff Wendel, Jose Faller, Jared Laux, Lisa Westgerdes, Chuck Roher and Rod Thobe.
Kaup Pharmacy is being honored for 35 years of service to the community.
Others nominated for the Hall of Fame were Chris Thompson, Chuck Rohrer, Jared Laux, and Brandon Wyerick.
The annual banquet will also include presentation of the annual beautification awards.

Accredited
Jay-Randolph Developmental Services has been accredited for a three-year period by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, now known as CARF International.
The accreditation was for the community integration, organizational employment services, supported living, respite services and governance of JRDS.
It is the eighth consecutive three-year accreditation awarded to JRDS by CARF International.
JRDS is a non-profit organization with offices in Portland and Winchester which has been providing services since 1958.
Named director
Jim Waechter of Portland has been hired as the new executive director of the Delaware County Historical Society.
One of the founders and guiding lights of the Museum of the Soldier, Waechter has also served as curator of the Wayne County Historical Museum and director of the Lincoln Museum in Fort Wayne. He is a past board member of the Indiana Association of Museums.
The Delaware County group maintains the Moore-Youse Home Museum in Muncie and ins involved in restoration of pioneer cemeteries and genealogical research.
Workshop set
The East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center will be conducting a workshop next week aimed at helping small businesses develop an online presence.
The workshop runs from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Community Resource Center, 118 S. Meridian St., Portland.
Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop, smartphone or tablet to the session and should have a gmail account already established.
