Patriots rebound against Generals

Local roundup

FORT WAYNE — The Patriots are back in the win column.
Less than 24 hours after having its nine-game win streak snapped, the Jay County High School boys basketball team rebounded with a 39-38 victory Saturday over the host Wayne Generals.
Jay County (15-5), fell behind after the first quarter, 13-10, but held Wayne (6-11) to just four points during the second in taking a 20-17 lead into halftime.
The margin stayed the same heading into the fourth quarter, and a potential game-winning 3-pointer by Wayne was off target and another chance, a tip in, to win missed the mark.
JCHS senior Adam Dirksen had a game-high 16 points to go with his six rebounds. Bowen Runyon chipped in with eight points and five rebounds, with Kyler Carvel adding seven points, three assists and three rebounds.
Jason Schlosser made the Patriots’ only 3-pointer (1-for-12) as he and Jay Houck both had four points.
Jay County’s junior varsity team fell to 11-5 on the season with a 47-34 loss.
Michael Schlechty led the Patriots with 12 points, and Max Moser followed with 11. Holton Hill added six points.
