Backing crash
A Portland driver was involved in a backing accident Saturday in the parking lot of Fraternal Order of Eagles, 320 N. Meridian St., Portland.
Larry R. Mann, 70, 221 E. Seventh St., Portland told a Portland police officer he was backing into a parking spot and thought he had enough room, but his 2002 Dodge Dakota struck a 2015 Toyota Corolla.
The Corolla is registered to Cheryl Dunning, 1119 W. North St.
Damage in the 12:47 p.m. accident is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Sideswipe
A Redkey man’s truck was hit by another driver’s vehicle Monday that left the scene after the crash on Indiana 67 near county road 400 West.
Lawrence V. Cook, 84, 8087 W. 500 South, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was heading north and stopped for a flagman on Indiana 67 near county road 400 West because of work on the road and one lane was closed. Cook said the flagman signaled for the southbound vehicle to stop but it continued anyway and struck the mirror of Cook’s 2005 GMC Sierra.
The other vehicle continued south and did not stop.
Damage in the 10 a.m. accident is estimated to be less than $1,000.
Went off road
A Berne man went off the road in the car he was driving Friday evening on Meridian Street near Adams Street in Portland.
Timothy A. Litton, 49, 575 Deborah Lane, Apartment, 221, was heading north on Meridian Street and went off the road, striking a sign near J&P Custom Plating, 807 N. Meridian St., Portland.
According to a police report, Litton told an officer he was drunk and was unsure what he struck with the 2001 Ford Taurus he was driving, but remembered a bump and the car was unable to move.
He was given a breath test and allegedly had a blood alcohol level of 0.16 percent.
Litton was arrested and later booked into Jay County Jail for operating while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor. He has been released on a $1,500 bond.
Damage in the 11:37 p.m. accident is estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Backing crash
A Portland woman backed one of her vehicles into another Sunday afternoon in Portland.
Lori J. Smith, 53, 1247 S. Meridian St., told a Portland Police officer she was backing her 2009 Mitsubishi out of her garage and hit the front driver’s side of her 2011 BMW.
Damage in the 1:19 p.m. collision is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Hit-and-run
A Pennville woman was involved in a hit-and-run accident Saturday in Penn Township.
A 2007 Buick Lucerne, registered to Karen A. Garringer, 8482 W. 300 North Lot 1, Pennville, was parked on the side of the road at an auction on country road 1100 West near Indiana 26. The driver, Daniel Emery, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office an unknown vehicle drove by, striking the Lucerne and left the scene.
Damage in the 1 p.m. crash is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
