Shot in Dunkirk
A Dunkirk man is being treated for a gunshot wound at Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was shot in the parking lot of Indiana Glass in Dunkirk, according to Jay County Sheriff’s Office. After going to Jay County Hospital, he was transported to Ball Memorial Hospital.
Attempts to contact Dunkirk Police Department and both hospitals for more information were unsuccessful.
Two deer
A Montepelier woman’s vehicle struck two deer Thursday on Indiana 26.
Angela S. Smith, 56, 423 S. Adams St., was driving west near county road 350 West when three deer entered the road. Her 2015 Chevrolet Equinox hit two of them.
The Equinox is registered to Smith Insurance Services, Montpelier.
Damage in the 6:40 p.m. accident was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Intersection accident
Two Portland drivers were involved in an accident Thursday at the intersection of North Street and Western Avenue in Portland.
Joseph W. Wilson, 51, 1237 N. U.S. 27, was driving north on Western Avenue and told Portland police he thought he stopped at its stop sign at North Street.
Linda R. Shull, 65, 709 W. Arch St., was driving east on North Street and said Wilson’s vehicle did not stop. She was unable to avoid hitting his 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt with her 2006 Buick Rendezvous.
Damage in the 12:17 p.m. accident was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
Deer accident
A Geneva man had an accident with a deer Saturday in Decatur.
Dustin J. Ehr, 27, Geneva, was driving north on High Street near Homestead Drive when a herd of deer came into the roadway. Ehr was unable to avoid hitting one of the animals with his vehicle.
Damage to his car was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
In area courts
Trisha A. Moeller, 37, 4471 Ohio 319, Fort Recovery, was fined $25 for speeding in Celina Municipal Court.
