Library has a free pass to state parks
Taking Note
In honor of Indiana’s Bicentennial and to spark interest in Indiana’s state parks, a free admission pass to all parks in the state is available at Jay County Public Library.
The pass is made available through a partnership with the Indiana State Library and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
The pass may be checked out for seven days and reservations may be made by stopping by the library at 315 N. Ship St. in Portland or by calling the library at (260) 726-7890.
Tea party
The deadline to make reservations for the Downton Abbey Tea Party is Wednesday.
The event will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday to commemorate the last episode of the PBS British television series “Downton Abbey” to be aired on Sunday.
Tea, biscuits and other delicacies will be served, there will be parlor games and those attending are encouraged to dress in historic costumes and fancy hats.
Reservations can be made at the library, by calling (260) 726-9579 or on Facebook.
Youth camp
The first Jay County Law Enforcement Youth Camp will be held in June for those ages 11 to 15.
Anyone interested in attending or wanting to make a donation may call Ben Schwartz at (260) 729-2998
Cancer screenings
Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur and Fort Wayne Dermatology are teaming up to offer a free cancer screening clinic on Friday, March 11.
The clinic will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Strickler Oncology Center, next to the hospital.
To make an appointment, call (260) 724-2145 ext. 4397.
