Chiefs outlast Eagles in double overtime

DUNKIRK — The Chiefs rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit.
They held the Eagles scoreless in the second overtime period.
East Jay Middle School’s eighth grade boys basketball team scored 11 points in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime, matched West Jay’s seven points in the first overtime and outscored the Eagles 7-0 for a 44-37 double-overtime win Tuesday.
East Jay’s seventh grade squad also won, 31-21.
Noah Arbuckle led the offensive effort for the EJMS eighth graders, pouring in a game-high 19 points.
Gabe Link added 11 points and Sheldon Upp chipped in with five points.
Peyton Nichols and Trevan Vore led the Eagles with 12 and 10 points respectively.
Wesley Bennett of West Jay led all seventh graders with 12 points.
Logan Brown chipped in with four points, while Lane Chapman and Frankie Crump added two points each.
Griffin Mann paced the winning Chiefs with 11 points. Brody Auker scored nine points, Landon Grimes added seven and Bailey Cox tallied four.
Fort 7th wins
ROCKFORD, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s seventh grade girls basketball team moved to 9-0 on the season Tuesday with a 33-10 victory against the Parkway Panthers.
The Tribe eighth (8-1) graders won, 38-28.
Alli Vaughn and Elena Evers led the FRMS seventh graders with 10 and eight points respectively. Evers also had a team-high eight rebounds. Kierra Wendel and Paige Fortkamp added six points each.
Val Muhlenkamp scored 16 points and Chloe Showalter tallied 13 to help the eighth graders to the victory. Macy Day contributed five points and Lydia Wenning totaled three.

UNION CITY — East Jay’s sixth grade girls basketball B team shut out Union City on Tuesday, 26-0.
The Chiefs’ A team also won, 15-9.
Abby Elzey totaled eight points to lead the B squad, with Chailey Muhlenkamp and Andrea Jutte adding four points each.
Lindy Mercer, Madison Jetmore, Kylie Klopfenstein, Heaven Hambrock and Emily Chenoweth scored two points each.
Rachel Muhlenkamp scored six points to lead the EJMS A team. Madison Dirksen followed with four points, while Hambrock and Chenoweth added two points each.

The A team lost 33-23, with the B team falling 22-18.
Ethan Dirksen led the A team with six points. Gavin Myers added five points, with Gavin Muhlenkamp and Colton Walker adding four points apiece.
Kyle Sanders and Adam Muhlenkamp each tallied two points.
Tarron Beaty led the B team with eight points, and Mickey Waters followed with three points.
