Tribe rolls past Trojans
ARCANUM, Ohio — The Trojans shot just 24 percent from the field.
The Indians’ worst shooting performance in a half was 54 percent.
After going 13-of-24 in the first half, the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team followed it with a 12-for-19 performance in the second half in rolling to a 60-29 victory Tuesday against the Arcanum Trojans.
Fort Recovery (8-2) jumped out to a 16-9 victory after the opening quarter, and pushed the advantage to 31-14 at half.
The Tribe continued to flex its offensive muscles while buckling down on defense during the third quarter, taking a 47-19 lead into the final period.
Grace Thien had a game-high 15 points for the Indians, who also got 14 points from Kendra Siefring and 11 from Whitney Will. Jocelyn Kaiser (eight points) and Will shared the team lead with five rebounds, and Carley Stone had four assists to go with her six points.
Stevie Johnting had 12 points to lead the Trojans.
Arcanum held off a surge in the fourth quarter to win the junior varsity game, 46-45.
Chloe Metzger led the Indians (2-6) with 20 points. Hannah Knapke added eight points and Aleigha Jenkings totaled seven.
Stars top Squaws
BERNE — Lexi Dellinger scored 16 points and Madi Wurster added 11 on Tuesday as the South Adams girls basketball team beat the Bellmont Squaws, 33-27.
South Adams (14-1), which is ranked ninth in Class 2A by Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association, held Bellmont (6-10) without a point in the opening quarter. The Starfires led 13-8 at halftime, and held on to the two-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter before pulling away down the stretch.
Maddie Morgan, Calyssa Lehman and Sydney Pierce had two points each for South Adams.
The Starfire junior varsity team lost, 39-11. Kayla LeFever led the Stars with four points. Emilee Myers followed with three points, with Shaelynn Bowman and Kirstien Herman adding two points apiece.
