Rear-ended
A Portland man complained of neck pain Tuesday after his car struck the rear of another vehicle.
Daniel L. Lawhead, 51, 2505 N. U.S. 27, was driving south on U.S. 27 and slowing down to turn into his driveway.
His 1999 Dodge Dakota was struck from behind by a 2003 Saturn Ion driven by Michael E. Roop, 326 E. Seventh St.
Roop’s airbag deployed and he said he had neck pain.
Damage in the 6:27 p.m. accident was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
Rear-ended
An Ohio driver’s vehicle was struck Tuesday morning on U.S. 27 in Portland.
Courtney L. Grote, 19, 12877 Harrison Willshire Road, Van Wert, Ohio, was stopped facing north at the light at Main Street. The back of the 2005 Hyundai Sante Fe she was driving was hit by a 2002 Ford F-350 driven by Dustin M. Adams, 26, 15732 Roth Road, Grabill.
The Ford is registered to KTK Trucking, 19718 Notestine Road, Woodburn.
The Sante Fe is registered to Debra Grote, same address.
Damage in the 11:44 a.m. accident was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Mirror struck
The mirror on a parked vehicle was hit Tuesday by a Jay-Randolph Developmental Services van.
Brian E. Yount, 37, 247 N. Sycamore St., Union City, was driving the 2006 Ford Econoline south on Meridian Street in Portland. The van clipped the mirror on the driver’s side of a 2004 Nissan Titan registered to Ryan M. Smitley, 2699 W. Indiana 26, Portland.
Damage in the 1:42 p.m. accident was estimated less than $1,000.
Parking lot mishap
A Portland woman struck another vehicle with hers as she drove through a parking lot Tuesday afternoon.
Patricia L. Smiley, 62, 116 E. Arch St., Apartment 1, was driving her 1993 GM Safari through the parking lot at Marsh, 218 W. Lincoln Ave., Portland. As she drove between two parked cars, the Safari hit the back of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado.
The Silverado is registered to Steven Schlechty, 239 E. Race St., Portland.
Damage in the 5:39 p.m. accident was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
