Deer crash
A Portland woman’s car struck a deer at 1:22 a.m. Saturday on Meridian Street in Portland.
Katelyn M. Crump, 23, 6087 Katelyn Drive, told a Portland police officer she was traveling south near Williamson Drive when a deer entered the roadway. She said she was unable to avoid hitting the animal with her 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt.
Damage is estimated to be under $1,000.

Deer accident
A rural Pennville woman’s SUV struck a deer Sunday on county road 750 West in Penn Township
Robbie D. Ray, 55, 5748 N. 650 West, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was traveling south on county road 750 West near county road 500 North when a deer ran into the roadway. She said she could not avoid striking the deer with her 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor.
Damage in the 3:42 a.m. crash is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.

Rolled over
A rural Bryant man was injured after the truck he was driving went off county road 450 East on Friday in Bearcreek Township.
Michael L. Williamson, 18, 7879 N. 450 East, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was traveling north on county road 450 East near Indiana 67 when his front passenger tire left the roadway. He said the 1989 Dodge Dakota he was driving went into a ditch on the east side of the road before he overcorrected, driving back across the road. His vehicle then went into a ditch on the west side of the road, causing it to flip and land on its top.
Williamson complained of abdominal and pelvic pain as a result of the crash.
The Dakota is registered to Jody L. Williamson, same address.
Damage in the 9:28 p.m. accident is estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

Off the road
A Berne woman went off the road in the car she was driving at 9 a.m. Saturday on State Line Road in Noble Township.
Kellie V. Howell, 23, 265 W. Hoosier St., told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was driving south on State Line Road near Division Road when the road changed from pavement to gravel and she lost control of the 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix she was driving because of the ice on the road. The Grand Prix hit a pole after going into a ditch on the west side of the road.
The Grand Prix is registered to Travis W. Abels, 604 W. Walnut St., Portland.
Damage is estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

Rear end crash
A Dunkirk man and a Celina, Ohio, woman were involved in an accident at 6:30 a.m. Saturday on county road 100 North in Wayne Township.
Linda C. Castorena, 39, 534 Lisle St., Celina, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was eastbound on county road 100 North near county road 300 East and was slowing down for the stop sign at the intersection when her 2009 Chevy 1500 began to slide off the icy road. As she was sliding, the Chevy was hit in the rear by a 2010 Pontiac G6.
Seth T. Trumbo, 21, 346 W. Washington St., Dunkirk, said he was headed east on the road behind the Chevy. He said he saw the truck slide on the ice and was unable to stop the Pontiac G6 he was driving, clipping the rear right side of the truck and going into a ditch.
The Pontiac is registered to Kayla Barber, same address.
Damage is estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

Rear end collision
A Portland man’s truck crashed into a Berne man’s car at 6:55 p.m. Saturday on Votaw Street near Middle Street in Portland.
Rodney L. Rigby, 60, 154 W. VanBuren St., Berne, told a Portland police officer he was slowing down to turn south onto Middle Street when his 2015 Dodge Journey was struck in the rear by a 2001 Dodge truck.
Wil D. Taylor, 21, 4229 W. 50 South, Portland, was driving the Dodge, which is registered to Joseph D. Bonifas, 311 E. Water St.
Damage is estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

Backing crash
A Portland man’s SUV struck a parked car at 10:30 a.m. Saturday on Meadow Lane in Portland.
Brentton A. Lewis, 21, 709 W. Arch St., told a Portland police officer he was trying to back out of a driveway in his 2002 Ford Explorer and did not see the car parked on the road.
Haley Ariel Marie Jones had parked the 2004 Buick Century she was driving on the north side of the road.
The Century is registered to John R. and Johnathon Petro, 1517 S. Meridian St.
Damage is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.

Went off road
Two were injured in a crash when a car went off county road 400 South at 9:47 a.m. Saturday in Jefferson Township.
Nikki J. Laisure Buffa, 19, 6093 Fidenza Ave., Las Vegas, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was traveling east on county road 400 South when she tried to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with Como Road.
She said the 1997 Chevrolet Blazer she was driving began to slide on the icy road. The Blazer went sideways across the intersection and rolled into a ditch.
Buffa complained of back pain, and her passenger, Tiffany R. Orick, said she had chest pain.
The Blazer is registered to Tiffany R. Orick. 210 W. Second St., Portland.
Damage is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.

Stolen cell phone
A Portland man reported his cell phone stolen at 4:08 p.m. Sunday.
Michael K. Bichsel, 1130 Meadow Lane, told a Portland police officer his cell phone was stolen around Jan. 12.

Wells accident
Snow-covered and icy pavement on Indiana 1 in Wells County led to an accident involving a Portland driver Wednesday morning.
Greg E. Griffin, 37, told police he was northbound in a Chevrolet Malibu about 10 a.m. when the car slid off the roadway near its intersection with road 1000 South.
The car struck a stop sign and came to rest in a field. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000.
