Jay County High School’s girls swim team won 11 of 12 events Tuesday in a 165-144 victory over Muncie Central.
The Patriot boys also won, 162-130.
Sophie Bader, Alex Bader and Anne Vormohr were all dual winners for the JCHS girls (9-1). Sophie Bader earned victories in the 100-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke. Alex Bader was first in the 50 freestyle and 500 freestyle while Vormohr won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly.
Ashley Mark (100 breaststroke) and Heather Stinson (diving) also picked up individual victories for the Patriots.
Jamie Valentine joined Alex Bader, Vormohr and Mark for a win in the 200 medley relay. Elizabeth McDowell teamed with Mark and the Bader sisters for a victory in the 200 freestyle relay, then joined Kaitlyn Dow, Sophie Bader and Vormohr to place first in the 400 freestyle relay.
Sok Vormohr (50 freestyle), Christian Phillips (diving), Connor Daniels (100 freestyle) and Christopher McDowell (100 backstoke) all won their respective events for the JCHS boys (4-5).
Jason Minnich and Travis Barton joined Daniels and Vormohr for a victory in the 200 freestyle relay. The 400 freestyle relay team of Garrett Campbell, Minnich, Daniels and Vormohr also finished first.
Tribe tops SA
BERNE — Fort Recovery’s girls basketball team moved to 12-2 on the season Tuesday with a 41-29 victory against South Adams.
Fort Recovery had a narrow 9-8 lead after the first eight minutes and led 20-12 at half thanks to an 11-point second quarter.
The Indians and Starfires (16-3) were even in the third quarter, but the Tribe pulled away in the fourth with help from back-to-back 3-pointers from Mikayla Post and Grace Thien.
Madi Wurster and Lexi Dellinger accounted for nearly all of the Starfires’ points. Wurster had a game-high 14 and Dellinger chipped in with 13. Calyssa Lehman added the other two points.
Kendra Siefring led the Indians with 11 points to go with her game-high eight rebounds. Carley Stone and Whitney Will followed with six points apiece.
Brooke Gaerke had a game-high 10 rebounds and led the Indians with eight points as the FRHS junior varsity team eked out a 26-25 victory. Chloe Metzger was second on the team with five points.
Shaelynn Bowman lead the Starfires with 10 points.
FR splits meet
MUNCIE — The Fort Recovery girls swim team split a double dual meet Tuesday with the Burris Owls and host Delta Eagles.
The Indians defeated Burris 60-34, but lost to Delta 59-42.
Fort Recovery’s boys lost both, 75-7 to Burris and 90-4 to Delta.
Cassidy Martin was the lone dual winner for Fort Recovery, finishing first in both the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Cori Stone (100 butterfly) and Sophie Timmerman (100 breaststroke) also won their respective events.
Faith Hull, Alexis Bubp, Martin and Stone combined to win the 200 freestyle relay. The 400 freestyle relay team of Martin, Bubp, Stone and Timmerman also earned a victory.
Grimes leads in loss
Parker Grimes scored a game- and season-high 22 points Tuesday but the Jay County freshman boys basketball team lost to Wapahani, 40-38.
Grimes had nine points in the second quarter, helping Jay County (7-3) to a 17-12 lead at half.
Wapahani, however, came out firing in the third quarter by scoring 17 points for a 29-26 lead heading into the fourth.
Wyatt Geesaman followed Grimes with eight points, and Xavier Ninde chipped in with four points.
