The eighth grade squad wasn’t as fortunate.
West Jay Middle School’s seventh grade boys basketball team defeated Allen County Athletic Conference opponent Southern Wells on Tuesday, 32-17.
The eighth graders fell 35-27.
Frankie Crump scored 11 points as the only WJMS seventh garader to reach double figures.
Logan Brown finished with nine points as he and Crump combined to outscore the Raiders by themselves.
Drew Powers and Lane Chapman both added six points.
Trevan Vore led the eighth grade Eagles with 16 points, and Peyton Nichols added seven points. Brinnin Wasson and Dylan Bowler chipped in with two points each.

EJ routs Panthers
MUNCIE — East Jay’s sixth grade girls basketball team dominated on both ends of the court Tuesday in a 38-5 victory over the Southside Panthers.
Rachel Muhlenkamp and Madison Dirksen led the way for East Jay with a dozen points each. Emily Chenoweth added six points for the Chiefs, who improved to 2-1 after bouncing back from Monday’s loss to West Jay.
Abby Elzey, Elayna Paro, Kylie Klopfenstein and Andrea Jutte tallied two points apiece.
Stuber on fire
FORT WAYNE — The South Adams eighth grade boys basketball team moved to 9-5 on the season Wednesday with a 52-35 victory against the Paul Harding Hawks.
Nic Stuber was on fire, exploding for a team-high 36 points, including eight points in each of the second and third quarters and 10 points in the final period. Collin Shaffer was second on the team with seven points, and Brandon Bauman chipped in with six points.
