Eagle girls fall to Golden Bears

PARKER CITY — West Jay Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams both lost to the Monroe Central Golden Bears on Tuesday.
The seventh grade Eagles lost 18-14, and the eighth graders were at the wrong end of a 59-17 score.
Grace Morgan had six points, six rebounds and four steals for the WJMS seventh graders. Demi Grove tallied five points to go with her four steals, and Victoria Jackson added two points.
Sophia Fugiett chipped in with one point.
Hallie Fields scored 11 points for the WJMS eighth graders. She also had five rebounds and four steals.
Allison Jobe and Devan Bennett recorded three points apiece, with Kymia Hankins and Jobe grabbing nine points apiece.

Tribe 7th loses
MINSTER — Fort Recovery’s seventh grade girls basketball team lost for the first time this season Tuesday, 35-22 to Minster.
The FRMS eighth graders eked out a 23-22 victory.
Brenna Homan, Kierra Wendel and Hope Wendel had six points each for the FRMS seventh graders (14-1). Paige Fortkamp added four points and Elena Evers chipped in with two.
Brooke Kahlig scored 10 points to lead the eighth grade Indians (13-3). Harlie Dues and Val Muhlenkamp contributed four points each and Macy Day had three.
Both Indian squads defeated Celina at home on Monday. The seventh graders won 23-30, and the eighth graders earned a 58-6 victory.
For the eighth graders, Chloe Showalter scored 11 points to join Kahlig (14), Dues (12) and Day (10) in double figures. Olivia Patch added six points.
Alli Vaughn and Kierra Wendel had six points each for the seventh graders.

Delta tops Eagles
DUNKIRK — Quinn Faulkner scored 18 points but it wasn’t enough as the West Jay sixth grade boys basketball A team lost to Delta, 34-26.
The B team also lost, 40-2.
Camdin Harrison scored six points in support of Faulkner, and Trenton Alexander chipped in with two points.
Graiden Miller scored the only two points for the B squad.
The combined teams lost on the road to Selma on Monday, 33-23.
Faulkner had a team-high 16 points. Harrison added four points and Alexander contributed three points.
Wrestlers win
WINCHESTER — The East Jay wrestling team defeated Winchester on Monday, 48-12.
Seven Chief wrestlers earned victories by pinning their opponents. Those included Dyllan Garringer, Zack Twigg, Jackson Lyons, Ian Ruiz, Mason Winner, Derrick Allen and Levi Peterson. Garrett Mann won by an injury default.
Earning exhibition wins were Blayne Daniels, Zakk Atkins, Cameron Lawhead, Dawson Hundley and Dylan Racster.
EJ 6th beats Indians
UNION CITY — East Jay’s sixth grade boys basketball team defeated Union City 37-28 on Monday.
Ethan Dirksen had a team-high 14 points for the Chiefs (2-1), and Gavin Muhlenkamp followed with seven.
Adam Muhlenkamp and Gavin Myers both totaled four points, and Colton Walker chipped in with three. Mickey Waters and Dylan Knapschafer both scored two points, and Kyle Sanders chipped in with one.
