RICHMOND — The Patriots march on.
Jay County High School’s girls basketball team found its stride during the second quarter on Monday in a 60-40 road victory over the Richmond Red Devils.
It was the seventh consecutive victory for the Patriots (19-3), who have now had winning streaks of seven or more games for the second time this season. They started the season 8-0.
Jay County and Richmond were deadlocked at 13 after the first quarter, until the visitors exploded for 22 points in the second period.
Richmond managed just seven and eight points respectively each quarter after halftime as Jay County rolled to its seventh straight win by 20 or more points.
Freshman Shelby Caldwell led the Patriots with 14 points. Sophomore Hanna Ault was 3-of-6 from behind the 3-point line and finished with 11 points to match senior Abby Wendel.
Ava Kunkler added nine points.
Lyla Muhlenkamp drained two more three pointers to push her season total to 58, tying her for third most in the state.
The Patriot junior varsity team moved to 19-0 with a 52-19 win. Briana Muhlenkamp had a team-high 12 points and Audrey Shreve finished with eight.

FR falls in OT
GREENVILLE, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s boys basketball team lost for the second time in as many games Tuesday, falling to the Greenville Green Wave 73-69 in overtime.
The Indians (9-4) went point-for-point with the Green Wave in the second half, matching the home team with 13 points in the third quarter and a whopping 27 in the fourth to send the game into overtime.
Greenville had the advantage in the overtime, though. The score was tied for the 14th time at 69 with 1:38 remaining.
Micaiah Cox led the Indians with 19 points, with Darien Sheffer adding 16 and Chase Bruns tallying 13 to go with his team-high eight rebounds.
Matt Bihn scored 11 points off the bench.
Clay Guillozet had 23 points for the Green Wave.
The FRHS junior varsity team won 53-51. Reese Rogers made four 3-pointer to finish with 12 points.
Ryan Braun and Payton Jutte both had 11 points.

SA tops Bellmont
DECATUR — The South Adams boys basketball team outlasted Bellmont in the final quarter Tuesday to beat the host Braves, 55-49.
After being tied at 11 to start the second quarter, Bellmont (3-13) nabbed a 23-21 lead at halftime. The Starfires (7-7) tied the game at 36 heading into the fourth quarter thanks to a 15-13 advantage in the third.
The Stars outscored the Braves 19-13 in the final frame to even their record.
Jared Grabau was 8-for-17 from the field and finished with a game-high 20 points.
Justin Nussbaum followed with 16 points and Cole Myers added eight.
Trace Bauer led the Braves with 18 points.
Terry Dawn scored 13 points to lead the SAHS junior varsity team in its 58-53 loss to Bellmont.
Nick Wurster and J.D. Groh had 12 points each, and David Muselman added 10.
The South Adams freshman team also lost, 37-17. Mason Sell led the Stars with seven points.

Star girls win
MUNCIE — South Adams’ girls swim team earned two wins against the Delta Eagles and Coldwater Cavaliers on Tuesday.
The Starfires beat Delta 65-37, and the Cavaliers 70-31.
South Adams’ boys lost to Delta 71-30 but beat Coldwater 83-15.
Brette Klopp, Ashton Klopp and Ashley LeFever each won two events for the SAHS girls. Brette Klopp was first in the 200-yard individual medley and 100 backstroke, with her twin sister winning both the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly.
LeFever earned victories in the 100 and 200 freestyle races.
Olivia Von Gunten (500 freestyle) and Audrey Burson (100 breaststroke) each won their respective events.
South Adams also won the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
Drew LeFever (100 butterfly) and David Steffen (100 freestyle) were the lone winners for the SAHS boys.
