Senior tech event ahead at John Jay

The John Jay Center for Learning will host a technology event for seniors.
Senior Technology Learning Series will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 4. Rusty Inman of The Portland Foundation will teach seniors how to set up an eBay account and how to buy and sell items online.

Director named
Taylor B. Lehman was named Monday the new director of human resources management of Swiss Village retirement community in Berne.
She will start at the facility Feb. 8.
Lehman, a South Adams High School graduate and former Swiss Village dietary department employee, has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Human Resources from Ball State University. She also has a Master’s of Health Administration from Indiana University/Purdue University of Indianapolis.
In the past two years, Lehman has worked for Indiana University Health and Ball Memorial Hospital in the human resources department.

Free tax preparation for those making less than $45,000 will be available at Ivy Tech campuses.
Appointments can be made at the Muncie location between noon and 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in February. Preparation will be available at the Anderson campus from 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays in February.

The American Electric Power Foundation is making an $800,000 grant over five years for the Credit Count program at Ivy Tech Community College Marion campus.
The program will benefit students at Marion High School and McCullock Junior High School and encourage them to consider opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It includes college credit opportunities for high school students.
McDonald’s growing
McDonald’s fourth quarter growth was its largest in almost four years, rising 5.7 percent in the United States.
Its earning for the quarter were $1.21 billion ($1.31 per share), up from $1.09 billion ($1.13 per share) during the fourth quarter of 2014.
The increases are attributed to all-day breakfast, which began in October.

Omen USA, a subsidiary of Israel-based Omen Casting Group, plans to open a production facility in Richmond.
Operations will begin in 2016, with up to 100 jobs created by 2019.
The company will manufacture aluminum parts for drivelines, steering components and oil pumps. It will invest $16 million to renovate a 76,000-square-foot facility, along with another $7 million over the next five years.
Omen USA has been offered $400,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $150,000 in training grants by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
Results reported
Park National Corporation reported Monday its fourth quarter results for 2015.
The company noted by the end of December, the net income was $20.9 million compared to the 24.3 million it made in the same period I 2014. This was a $3.4 million, 14 percent, decrease for the financial company.
The corporation’s community-banking subsidiary, The Park National Bank, reported net income of $84.3 million Dec. 31, 2015. This is an increase from the 2014 period where the bank made $82.9 million. Assets for the bank grew as well from $7.2 billion in December 2015 from $6.9 billion in 2014.
