BERNE — The Starfire girls finished first and second in every race.
They swept the top three spots in six of them.
South Adams High School’s girls swim team finished off its regular season Thursday with a 144-31 victory over DeKalb.
The Starfire boys also won, 131-40.
Ashton Klopp and Olivia Von Gunten were both dual winners for the SAHS girls. Klopp placed first in the 200-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly, and Von Gunten was victorious in the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle.
Caroline Kloepper (50 freestyle), Korinna Schindler (diving), Ashley LeFever (100 freestyle), Brette Klopp (100 backstroke) and Audrey Burson (100 breaststroke) also earned wins in their respective events.
South Adams was one-two in all three relays as well.
David Steffen and Zach Teeple both finished first in a pair of races for the South Adams boys. Steffen won the 50 and 100 freestyle races, while Teeple touched the wall first in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Also earning wins were Daniel Burson (200 freestyle), Xavier Rupp (diving), Drew LeFever (100 butterfly) and Daniel Steffen (100 breaststroke).
The boys also swept the relay races.
Tribe wins
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams picked up wins over the Minster Wildcats on Thursday.
The Tribe seventh graders won 54-14, and the eighth graders defeated the Wildcats 43-36.
Ryne Post and Clay Schmitz had 15 and 12 points respectively for the FRMS seventh graders. Brian Bihn followed with eight points and Derek Jutted chipped in with six. Dillan Evers added four points.
Grant Knapke led the eighth graders with 18 points, and Ian Homan totaled a dozen. Jared Timmerman added nine points.
Chiefs top Eagles
Both East Jay sixth grade girls basketball teams defeated West Jay on Thursday.
The A team edged the Eagles 20-18, while the B team won 16-2.
Madison Dirksen and Heaven Hambrock scored six points apiece to lead the EJMS A team. Elayna Paro added four points, with Rachel Muhlenkamp and Emily Chenoweth tallying two points each.
Paro also led the B team with six points, and Chailey Muhlenkamp chipped in with four points.
Maddy Wenk and Lindy Mercer scored three and two points respectively.
Eagles fall
DUNKIRK — West Jay’s sixth grade boys hoops teams fell to the Muncie Northside Titans on Tuesday.
The A team lost 53-49, and the B squad was at the losing end of a 17-7 score.
Quinn Faulkner exploded for 29 points for the West Jay A team. Camdin Harrison followed with nine points, and Nick Street added seven.
Trenton Alexander and Caleb Hale both scored two points.
Kess McBride scored five points to lead the B team. Cody Bivens chipped in with two points.
